I. SCOPE OF THIS POLICY
Cookies are small text files that websites store on the user's device while browsing the internet. Alongside them there are other browser storage technologies — such as local storage — that serve a similar function: they allow the site to remember preferences and work correctly between visits.
Casa Umbela S.A. de C.V. (hereinafter "Umbela") uses both cookies and local storage technologies on the umbela.mx website. For the sake of transparency, this Policy describes them together; where the text refers to "cookies", it should be understood to also cover those equivalent technologies.
II. TECHNOLOGIES WE USE
We classify them into four categories according to their purpose:
1. STRICTLY NECESSARY
These are indispensable for the basic operation of the site. Without them, key features such as the shopping cart or age verification would not work properly. By their nature they do not require prior consent.
Umbela does not use its own cookies for these purposes: it uses browser local storage. The distinction matters to you, because this information remains solely on your device and is not transmitted to our servers or to third parties; you can delete it at any time from your browser settings.
- Age confirmation (local storage) — Records that you confirmed being of legal age, so the question is not repeated on every page. Validity: 30 days.
- Shopping cart (local storage) — Keeps the products you have added to your cart. Validity: until you empty the cart or clear your browser data.
- Cookie preference (local storage) — Records your decision regarding this Policy (accept all / essential only) so we do not ask again on every visit. Validity: until you change your decision or clear your browser data.
- Waitlist registration (local storage) — Notes in your browser that you already signed up for a product waitlist, solely to avoid duplicate registrations. Validity: until you clear your browser data.
The processing of data you voluntarily submit through the site's forms (contact, waitlist and purchase) is governed by the Privacy Notice, not by this Policy.
2. ANALYTICS COOKIES
They help us understand how visitors interact with the site: which pages they visit, how long they stay and from which devices they connect. The information is collected in aggregate, anonymous form; it is not used to identify individuals.
- Google Analytics (_ga, _gid, _gat) — Measure traffic and browsing behavior. IP addresses are anonymized before processing. Duration: from 1 minute to 2 years depending on the cookie. More information in the Google Privacy Policy.
These cookies are only activated if the user gives their consent.
3. PREFERENCE COOKIES
They remember the user's choices to personalize their experience on later visits, such as the selected language or display preferences.
- The site does not currently use preference cookies. Language is chosen through direct links (/ for Spanish, /en for English) without storing your choice.
4. THIRD-PARTY COOKIES
Some services integrated into the site may set their own cookies. Umbela does not control such cookies and recommends consulting each provider's privacy policy:
- Google Analytics — Described in section 2 above. Only activated with your consent.
- Getnet (Santander) — Payment processor. Online payment is not yet enabled on the site; once it is, this provider may set technical cookies during the checkout process.
III. HOW TO MANAGE COOKIES
You can control and delete cookies from your browser settings. Below you will find instructions for the most common browsers:

IV. CONSENT
When you first access umbela.mx, you will see a notice that lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. Analytics cookies are only activated if you expressly accept them using the "Accept all" button; if you choose "Essential only", only the storage strictly necessary for the site to work will be used. Essential cookies are activated automatically because they are necessary for the site to function and do not require consent.
You can withdraw or change your consent at any time using the button below, by deleting cookies from your browser settings, or by contacting us through our contact form.
V. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Some cookie providers (such as Google) process data on servers located outside Mexico. In these cases, data is transferred in accordance with applicable legal frameworks and under the corresponding contractual safeguards. For more information, please consult each provider's privacy policy.
VI. RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER POLICIES
This Cookie Policy is an integral part of Umbela's Privacy Notice. To learn in detail how we handle your personal data in general, please consult that document.

Umbela may update this Policy at any time to reflect changes in the cookies used or in applicable regulations. The current version will always be available at umbela.mx/en/cookies. The date of the last update appears at the top of this document.
