I. WHAT ARE COOKIES?
Cookies are small text files that websites store on the user's device while browsing the internet. They contain information that allows the site to remember preferences, keep sessions active and analyze browsing behavior in aggregate form.
Casa Umbela S.A. de C.V. (hereinafter "Umbela") uses cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage and tracking pixels) on the umbela.mx website as described in this Policy.
II. COOKIES WE USE
We classify the cookies we use into four categories according to their purpose:
1. ESSENTIAL COOKIES
These are indispensable for the basic operation of the site. Without them, key features such as the shopping cart or age verification would not work properly. They do not require prior consent.
- umbelaAge (sessionStorage) — Records that the user has confirmed being of legal age during the active session. Duration: session.
- umbelaCart (localStorage) — Stores the contents of the shopping cart locally in the browser. Duration: persistent until the user empties the cart or clears browser data.
- umbelaCookies (localStorage) — Records your decision about the use of cookies (accept all / essential only) so we don't ask again on every visit. Duration: persistent until you change your decision or clear browser data.
- umbelaWaitlist (localStorage) — Locally saves your registration on waitlists for upcoming products, solely to avoid duplicate registrations from this browser. Duration: persistent until you clear browser data.
2. ANALYTICS COOKIES
They help us understand how visitors interact with the site: which pages they visit, how long they stay and from which devices they connect. The information is collected in aggregate, anonymous form; it is not used to identify individuals.
- Google Analytics (_ga, _gid, _gat) — Measure traffic and browsing behavior. IP addresses are anonymized before processing. Duration: from 1 minute to 2 years depending on the cookie. More information in the Google Privacy Policy.
These cookies are only activated if the user gives their consent.
3. PREFERENCE COOKIES
They remember the user's choices to personalize their experience on later visits, such as the selected language or display preferences.
- The site does not currently use preference cookies. Language is chosen through direct links (/ for Spanish, /en for English) without storing your choice.
4. THIRD-PARTY COOKIES
Some services integrated into the site may set their own cookies. Umbela does not control these cookies and recommends consulting each provider's privacy policy:
- Getnet (Santander) — Payment processor that may set technical cookies during the checkout process.

IV. CONSENT
When you first access umbela.mx, you will see a notice that lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. Analytics cookies are only activated if you expressly accept them using the "Accept all" button; if you choose "Essential only", only the storage strictly necessary for the site to work will be used. Essential cookies are activated automatically because they are necessary for the site to function and do not require consent.

V. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Some cookie providers (such as Google) process data on servers located outside Mexico. In these cases, data is transferred in accordance with applicable legal frameworks and under the corresponding contractual safeguards. For more information, please consult each provider's privacy policy.
